The Spirit of Possibility

If you’re like me, you’ve failed at New Year’s Resolutions way too many times. That’s why I gave them up entirely.

Instead, two years ago, I thought about what was important to me and how I wanted to live. After serious consideration, I came up with my What’s Really Possible Pledge. It’s what drives me every day.

  1. I choose to think, live, and act in the spirit of possibility.
  2. I will bring my initiative, common sense, and decency to my family, community, country, and world.
  3. I will work with others to find new ways to solve the challenges we face and the future we want to create.
  4. I commit to making a difference in thought, word, and deed in some way—every day.
  5. I’ll do this with laughter, dedication, integrity, and love—because it’s the right thing to do.

It’s changed my thinking. Life is all about creation, connection, and community.

So, ditch the resolutions. Instead, make a pledge to yourself that’s focused on who you want to be and how you want to live. You can’t fail that way because we’re always a work in progress.
